ReadMyStrip — Privacy Policy

Effective June 28, 2026. ReadMyStrip is provided by Yellow Labs ("we", "us").

ReadMyStrip reads a pool or aquarium test strip against the color chart you save and shows you the measured values and the manufacturer's ideal ranges. The app does not provide treatment recommendations or medical, health, or safety advice — it reads the strip and displays values and ranges.

This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, who processes it, and your choices.

Information we collect

Account. Your email address (used as your account identifier) and a password, so you can create and sign in to your account.
Photos you provide. A photo of your test strip's color chart (saved once as your baseline) and the photos of test strips you scan.
Results. Your most recent scan results (the measured values).
Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription, managed through RevenueCat (see "Third-party services").
Operational logs. Basic request and diagnostic logs used to run, secure, and debug the service.

How your photos are processed and stored

Your chart and strip photos are uploaded to our servers and sent to a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to read the colors. They are used to produce your reading, not for advertising, and we do not sell them.
We store your saved chart image and your latest results so the app works across sessions.
We currently also retain copies of scan images to monitor and improve reading accuracy.

How we use your information

To read your test strip and show your values and ideal ranges.
To store your saved chart and most recent results.
To provide one free scan and manage paid subscription access.
To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the app.

Third-party services

We share data with these providers only to operate the app:

Supabase — account authentication, database, and file storage.
OpenAI — image processing to read your strip and chart.
RevenueCat — subscription management and entitlement status.
Apple — in-app purchase and payment processing.
Vercel — hosting of our backend.

We do not sell your personal information and do not use your photos for advertising.

Subscriptions

Every account includes one free scan. Continued scanning requires a paid subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple and your subscription status is managed via RevenueCat. You can manage or cancel a subscription anytime in your App Store account settings.

Data retention and deletion

You can delete your account from within the app (Home → "Delete Account"). Deleting your account removes your associated data from our systems — your account, your saved chart, your stored results, your scan images, and your subscription-access record.

Deleting your account does not cancel an active Apple subscription — manage that in the App Store. Our third-party providers may retain limited records as required by law or their own policies.

Children

ReadMyStrip is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above.
